UKZN PMB campus student, Tshegofatso Molefe, has been selected as one of 12 finalists for the Miss Justice SA 2017 pageant to be held on November 26 in Sandton.

Molefe, a final-year law student from Scottsville, said she received the news last Wednesday.

“I have worked so hard to be where I am today and I am very proud of myself. The pageant started in January, and I was first selected a semi-finalist.

“When I entered the competition it was not about winning or losing, I wanted to serve the community and assist young girls through this platform.

“Being a finalist came as a bonus because I am happy doing community work, which I have done for the past few months since entering the pageant.”

She said she had to make many sacrifices when she entered the competition as it is a Johannesburg pageant.

“Whenever there are workshops or anything regarding the pageant I have to use my own money for travelling and accommodation. But because of the love I have for my community I go and come back and help young people with what I have learnt.”

Molefe said while doing the required community work she opened an organisation called The Rising Generations, which helps school girls, especially those who look after their siblings.

“I have gone to five schools where I met many young girls. I am looking for food and sanitary pad sponsors for them. I want to boost their confidence at school and promote hygiene in girls,” she said.

Molefe said she will not only be representing Pietermaritzburg, she will be representing KZN because she is the only KZN finalist.
