THE National Futsal League played under the auspices of the South African Indoor Football Association (SAIFA) concluded with its league fixtures for the season on Friday, 18 November with three matches that were played in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg.

With eThekwini City already crowned champions, the race to secure the other two podium positions were tight with three teams in the running. With all matches kicking off at the same time, it was difficult for any team to know what the final scores would be. The results from the matches in Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg were crucial in deciding the podium finishes.

In Pietermaritzburg, Young Natalians hosted rivals Maritzburg Hotspurs in what was a close encounter. With only a point separating the teams, a win for either team would secure second place.

Young Natalians were comfortable going into the break leading by three goals to nil. The visitors did not give up and managed to end the game in a draw after an exciting and nail-biting finish. Both local teams ended the season on a high with Young Natalians finishing in second place and Maritzburg Hotspurs in third.

Goals for Young Natalians were scored by Tsepo Liphuko (2), Renaldo Donnelly and Hashim Khan while Curtis Dos Santos (2), Royce Billings and Mickyle Sampson scored for Maritzburg Hotspurs.
