THE Love to Live event, with this year’s theme aimed at fighting racism, will be held at the Protea Grounds in the Northern areas this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the morning until late.

The theme of the event is ‘Racism Must Fall. Ubuntu our Strength’

The School of Fashion director Priscilla Bhika said that the fashion school has joined hands with Love To Live and will have a fashion show on 14 May 2016 at 3pm at the Protea Grounds.

“This is a three-day event and our fashion students have designed outfits that go with the theme of the event. We have about 20 to 25 students that will be showcasing their garments. There will be great prizes to be won as well. We are motivating the youth that if they have problems, they can always talk to someone about what they are going through,” she said.

Organizer of the event Dan Moodley said, “The start of the event happened in 2000 and we were in partnership with Community Chest. It was a small event held at the Harry Gwala Stadium. One year later there were 15 suicides in the Northern areas. After this I thought to myself that the best way to tackle this sensitive issue was by hosting a community event.

“As this year’s theme states ‘Racism Must Fall. Ubuntu our Strength’ we want to unite people of South Africa. The theme is influenced by all the racism that goes on in our country. We are saying enough is enough.”
