LAST Thursday Pietermaritzburg residents felt the ground literally shake beneath them as the city experienced an earth tremor that measured 4.1 on the local magnitude scale. Many residents reported experiencing the tremor with their roofs and windows rattling and the ground shaking. Some described the feeling similar to having a train passing next to their home.

‘Maritzburg Fever’ readers described their experiences on Facebook:

A TAXI carrying 15 school children collided into a signpost on Greytown Road in Northdale. The children were transported to various Pietermaritzburg hospitals.
