Maritzburg United can go far

2017-04-12 06:02

IF team spirit and moral support by Maritzburg United players and local soccer followers is anything to go by, based on last week’s performance, it’s clear the team can go far.

The Team of Choice attracted around 6 000 spectators when they outsmarted, out-muscled and outplayed Ajax Cape Town beating them 2-1.

The support displayed by the Greater Pietermaritzburg community once again proved that the Team of Choice can go forward and consistent if their games are always well attended.

“Supporters are always a plus in the team’s motivation and keeps everybody in high spirits,” said United former defender, Peter Petersen.

Petersen said a strong support base and the way the interim head coach Fadlu Davids and his entire technical bench have tactically changed the fortunes of the team, speaks volumes.

“It proves that United can put up a good fight or turn the tables against any side in the country.

The quality they displayed and with good support from fans also prove the team can go far.”

United’s 2-1 win against the Captonians sent KZN’s capital city to the celebration table.

The Team of Choice’s next assignment will be next Tuesday against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium.
