PHUMELELE Bhengu’s agent says Maritzburg United and Royal Eagles are among four clubs interested in the out-of-favour SuperSport United striker.

Bhengu, a goal poacher from Swayimane, joined SuperSport in the off-season after scoring 22 goals last term for National First Division side Thanda Royal Zulu.

However, he has only made four appearances in the League this season amid competition for game-time from Jeremy Brockie, Kingston Nkhatha, Bradley Grobler and Fagrie Lakay.

Matsatsantsa coach Gordon Igesund recently claimed Bhengu requested a loan move away from the club, but the player’s representative Lizwe Mthethwa disputes this.

“He [Sbu Mpisane, Eagles’ chairman] called me yesterday[Monday] to take Bhengu on loan but Eagles is not the only club, so has Maritzburg United, Thanda, Highlands Park,” Mthethwa tells KickOff.com.

“But it is absolutely not true that ‘Ace’ has requested a loan... he is very happy to be where he is.

“In our most recent meeting a day ago he told me that he wants to stay at SuperSport and to honour his contract.

“However, the coach [Igesund] feels otherwise. He feels the other strikers are better than ‘Ace’, which in my professional and personal opinion is not true.

“With respect, it is not like he is fighting with the Cristiano Ronaldos of this world.”
