Maritzburg United remain focused

2017-09-27 06:01

MARITZBURG United will have to stay strong, not dwell on Wednesday’s results against Kaizer Chiefs at Harry Gwala Stadium and focus on earning points.

The Team of Choice, before the AmaKhosi’s fixture, were unbeaten and to go forward will have to fight on and depend on team effort.

Before Wednesday’s games, both teams - PMB United and Lamontville Golden Arrows - were riding high and occupying first and second spot respectively.

Maritzburg United and Abafana Bes’thende were sitting on eight points, they had drawn twice and won twice after playing four times.

Wednesday’s fixtures or results affected their log standing but all was not lost.

On Wednesday night United hosted Kaizer Chiefs at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Arrows travelled to Royal Bafokeng Stadium and had a date with Platinum Stars.

PSL’s fixtures will continue from tomorrow (Friday, September 22) and all three KZN sides are expected to have it tough and swim against the tide.

Arrows will tackle AmaKhosi on Saturday at FNB Stadium at 8pm.

Abafana Bes’thende head coach and former Manning Rangers star midfielder Clinton Larsen says his team will be forced to focus and look at the bigger picture in order to fulfil their dreams.

“It’s still very early to count our points and raise hopes. We need to stay grounded and level-headed. The fact is, it’s early days to predict any success. We need to take one game at the time and look at the bigger picture for the future,” said Larsen.

On Saturday AmaZulu will be visited by Platinum Stars at Umlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium (8pm).
