Mayuri’s Jewellers

2016-03-23 06:00

THE Nanjee Sunderjee Soni family have been in jewellery manufacture and retail since the sixties. Their families are descendants going back many generations with a heritage of jewellery manufacture and designing.

Baboo Soni, the eldest brother, established a successful jewellery business and was later joined by his two younger brothers, Vassan and Prakash (late).

As the business expanded a jewellery manufacturing plant, utilising state-of-the-art machinery imported from India and Italy, was set up in Pietermaritzburg. The focus was to specialise in all styles of Indian, bridal and dress jewellery.

The vast manufacturing capabilities led to the move from wholesale to the competitive retail sector in Pietermaritzburg and Durban as well as a successful mail order department, servicing the rest of South Africa.

Mayuri’s Jewellers are conveniently situated at the Chatsworth Centre, the Phoenix Plaza in Durban and the Northway Mall in Pietermaritzburg. The manufacturing plant continues to grow and expand. It is constantly updated with new tools, machinery and technology.

A wealth of skilled craftsmen are on hand to make sure that all that is manufactured is done so with precision, refinement and quality. Due to the manufacturing capabilities Mayuri’s is able to offer their clients a 48-hour delivery promise.

Baboo and Vassan continue as senior members, while Varsha Bhoola and Deepesh Soni have chosen to continue the family heritage of jewellers, and are proud to be part of the family business.
