THE family of a 13 year old girl from Henley Dam who was reported missing in October can finally breathe a sigh of relief after she was found alive last Monday.

An appeal was launched by the family after Nomvelo Msane a Grade 7 pupil at Springhaven Primary School went missing on 22 October while attending a family fun-day function at the school.

Speaking to the Maritzburg Echo, her father Collin Msane confirmed that she was found in the Maqongqo area.

“I can’t reveal any more information as the case is currently under police investigation but I want to thank people who helped us in our quest to finding her.”

Msane said they are still trying to establish how her daughter got to the house where she was found.

“We think she may have been threatened but we are not sure because she refuses to communicate with us. We have booked her in for psychological assessment and hopefully we will be able to get more answers from her”.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele confirmed that Nomvelo had been found but said there will be no further investigations.

“She was found at Maqongqo area with other girls and boys of her age. She was returned to her parents and no further investigation will be conducted at this stage.”
