MEN and women of all ages and walks of life took charge of their health at a recent wellness day hosted by Midlands Medical Centre (MMC) Private Hospital.

The day, which targeted the public as well as staff members, was held in conjunction with Lancet Laboratories, Abbott Diagnostics and Discovery.

The aim was to raise awareness around two key health issues – HIV/Aids and diabetes.

The event also featured the services of Pranisha Deonarain (MMC clinical dietician), SOS Optometrists and the SA National Blood Service. Lancet Laboratories in conjunction with Abbott Diagnostics sponsored free PSA testing (prostate cancer screening) for men at the event, while MMC and Discovery offered among other things, free HIV counselling and testing, blood pressure testing, BMI screening and blood glucose testing.
