THE uMgungundlovu North Cluster, Mountain Rise SAPS, the community policing forum, the owner of Sunfresh Bakery, KFC and other businesses made a great impact on the lives of the children at the Sunlit Gardens and the Pietermaritzburg Children’s Home in Woodlands on Mandela Day.

The children were educated on child abuse and other crimes before lunch was served.

The children received toys and party packs.

Mountain Rise SAPS spokesperson, Captain Ebrahim said: “The looks on their faces and big beautiful smiles of thanks and appreciation was humbling to everybody present. It reminded all present of humility and gratitude for what we have.”

She said she hopes this will be an ongoing programme with all community role players and businesses coming on board.
