THE Christmas lunch to be held for disadvantaged communities in Malivana , Esitimeleni, Emikhukhwini (Jesmondeen) and Madiba in Ward 34 will now be on 5 December. The event, organised by Jerry Barnes, was initially set for 28 November, however, due to unforeseen circumstances the date has been changed, says Barnes.

“There was an urgent business commitment that cropped up on the earlier date [28 November], which requires my presence, but do it at the later date [5 December] is a blessing in disguise as it will give me a chance to tie up loose ends.”

Barnes is collecting old toys, clothes and groceries to give to the needy.

“The campaign is still on and so far things are looking positive. I am still asking people to reach out and this humanitarian exercise possible. “My target is to feed 150 people. I know it sounds impossible or far-fetched, but I am eager to see it happen. The fact is those people need our support and to sit with them and lunch will be a blessing, and will bring happiness to them, just once a year,” said Barnes.

Good Samaritans are urged to donate old clothes, toys and groceries at 8 Redwood Crescent, Panorama Gardens or contact Barnes at 083 521 9553 and jerryb.bar nes228@gmail.com – Supplied.
