FACE of KZN Model Search Contest is an NGO that was founded in 2010 by a Pietermaritzburg teacher, ex-model and talent scout, Bengs Nkosi.

Face of KZN aims to discover new young faces between the ages of 18 and 35, regardless of race and gender.

Contestants enter the contest by sending their personal details and photos via WhatsApp and then a panel of judges decide who will be competing in the finals by selecting 15 boys and 15 girls to represent the youth from all over KwaZulu-Natal.

CRITERIA TO BE ABLE TO ENTER:

• You must be a South African living in KwaZulu-Natal.

• Be a male or female between 18 and 35 years.

• Be single, not married or engaged.

• Be willing to do voluntary work for a period of 12 months with any NGO of your choice.

• Attend social events to promote the Face of KZN brand.

The daily running of the Face of KZN is mainly a job of co-ordinator and is
not funded by government and private sector.

The organisation entirely depends on donations from the founder and the management committee.

A team of 20 volunteers help with distribution of posters, pamphlets and banners to promote the event.

At the actual event, volunteers help with co-ordination, reception, ushering, catering and managing the show.

The fifth annual Face of KZN Model Search Contest will be held on Saturday, October 7 at Msunduzi Museum, 351 Langalibalele Street in Pietermaritzburg from 2pm until 5pm.

Tickets are now available from Computicket at Checkers and Shoprite at R50.

Children under six may attend at no charge, as long they are accompanied by their parents.

Those over the age of 60 may also enter free, provided they produce valid identity documents.

Entertainment will be provided by five local artists, five dance groups, five poets and five deejays and winners will walk away with prizes worth R40 000 sponsored by Bengs Nkosi, Phinduvuke Travel, Cine Centre, Bold Fashion House, Irene’s Models Agency, Mo’Bella Beauty Salon, 033 Lifestyle, 39 Degrees Photography, Sbu’s Professional Salon and Midlands Computer Training Centre.

Those who would like to help with funds or vouchers can call or WhatsApp Nkosi at 083 241 1291.
