ITS all systems go for this year’s Face of KZN model search contest on Saturday 3 September at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall.

A total of 30 finalists from all over KZN will be competing to be crowned the new Face of KZN 2016.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Celebrating youth cultural diversity”.

Event organiser Bengs Nkosi said the judging selection for the final 30 took three months.

“The finalists were under the strict scrutiny of our judges and auditors. The competition also allows the public at the event to vote for their favourite contestant, but the judges’ decision is final,” said Nkosi.

Bengs founded the KZN Model Search competition in January 2010 and it has grown in leaps and bounds giving upcoming models between the ages of 18 to 35 a platform to grow in the field.

This year, winners will walk away with prizes valued at R57 500 sponsored by Bengs Nkosi, Virgin Active, Nathi B Potrait Studio, Cine Centre, Greater Edendale Mall, 39 Degrees Photography, 033 Lifestyle and Mo’Bella Beauty Salon.

The female contestants will be dressed in garments by Pietermaritzburg designers Bryno Von Johncen and Sikhanyisa Designer Wear.

Celebrities who have been invited include actor Lesley Musina, Mrs South Africa finalists Maritsa Gouws and Bright Ntuli-Kunene, Mr South Africa finalists Sakhile Hlengwa and Sibonelo Zungu, Zanele Mbokazi and Uzalo cast members.

Former winners of the Face of KZN will also attend the event, including 2013 winners, Zandile Thusi and Qiniso Sithole, 2014 winners, Pearl Cele and Thabiso Buthelezi and 2015 winners Xolisile Ngubane and Sibusiso Dlamini.

Proceeds from the event will go towards buying school uniforms for 300 destitute pupils from Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas.

Individuals and companies who want to donate new uniforms, can contact Nkosi on 073 356 3737 or email bcankosi@gmail.com

Doors open at 10am. Tickets from Computicket for R100 for general and R250 VIP, phone 086 1 91 5800 or online at www.computicket.com - Supplied.
