‘No crisis in Maritzburg United camp’ - Zuma

2017-03-29 06:02

ALTHOUGH many Maritzburg United supporters are pressing the panic button, the club says all is in order.

Last weekend away at Makhulung Stadium, the Team of Choice lost 1-0 to battling Highlands Park.

The big fuss was not about the loss, it was about them going down for the fourth time in a row.

Maritzburg United recently lost twice, once to Lamontville Golden Arrows, in the Nedbank Cup and a league fixture. The Team of Choice also lost against SuperSport United.

Maritzburg United spokesperson Brian Zuma this week said die hards must understand the side is going through an ordinary “slump”.

Zuma says there is no need to panic because everything is under control and the team will soon turn the corner.

“We’ve hit a slump, no doubt about that, [but] there’s no crisis, definitely. What is happening to us is not uncommon.”

Zuma says United will still make it to the top eight by the end of the season.

“We will turn the corner soon and we are still aiming for a top eight finish.”

United will hope to change their fortunes or turn the corner on April 1 when they host Ajax Cape Town at Harry Gwala Stadium.

“We are hoping to bounce back when we go against Ajax Cape Town. We’ll have home ground advantage and hope fans will fill the stadium in numbers,” said Zuma.
