THE Vodacom NxtLvl Pietermaritzburg High Schools FA Cup came to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday, August 27, with Hilton College beating Carter High on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

A total of 34 boy and girl teams participated in the tournament, which was hosted by Howick High School.

In the girls section, Edendale Technical High School defended their 2016 triumph by beating hosts Howick High 2-0 in the final.

“This tournament sets the bar for high school tournaments and we believe there is none that can match it. Off the field the organisation was superb and on the field, the football played was very exciting and of a high level.

“I’d like to thank the organising committee, the sponsors, the hosts as well as all the schools that participated,” said Michael Dibben, PMB High Schools FA chairman.
