Retired police officers reunion held

2016-09-21 06:00

SEVERAL retired police officers gathered recently to celebrate a reunion. Among them were a number of the top brass of yesteryear.

This event was initiated by retired SAPS Brigadier Bala Naidoo, who also convened the event and provided refreshments and eats.

In his address Naidoo explained that among a number of others, each member should make a contribution in whatever manner to uplift the communities they live in by advising on the prevention of crime, to ensure the well being of every member, to mentor the youth and explain the disadvantages and dangers in alcohol abuse and the use of drugs

Members boasted service records spanning from 20 to in excess of 40 years, meritorious service to the SAPS and various communities.

I urge the mayor of Msunduzi to honour members who have meritoriously served Pietermaritzburg.

The sessions were divided into meet and greet, registration, an open session where members mingled with each other, and there was a photo session.

Old friendships were rekindled and new ones kindled.

Much comradeship was enjoyed by everyone.

It was decided that the next meeting will take place on the 8 October at a venue to be announced.

Members are requested to inform as many retired members as possible to attend the next meeting.

Contact Brigadier Bala Naidoo at 082 499 7770 or Logan
Govender at 074 187 1338 or 033 345 3379.
