ONE pupil was killed and 46 others were injured on Tuesday afternoon when bus overturned on the N3 between Hilton and Pietermaritzburg.

The hired bus was transporting four U16 Michaelhouse soccer teams to Kearsney
College.

“[It] suffered from a blow-out going down Townhill near Pietermaritzburg and flipped onto its side,” Michaelhouse rector Greg Theron wrote on the school’s Facebook page.

On the page, the school extended its condolences to the family of the pupil who died in the accident.

“Michaelhouse is saddened to confirm the passing of Themba Dloti in [yesterday’s]
terrible accident ... We are united in our grief and shock and our prayers are extended to the Dloti family.”

Injured pupils and staff received treatment in various Pietermaritzburg
hospitals. - Supplied.
