THE KwaZulu-Natal Trail Running (KZNTR) Summer Series Faulklands Farm Trail Run took place recently in slightly wet conditions after storms around KZN.

The seven kilometre, 14km and 22km courses were laid out across the Faulklands Farm overlooking the Umgeni River outside Pietermaritzburg. The rain stayed away for the race and all runners were treated to spectacular hospitality on the farm.

The 22km course was won by Muzi Madikwa in a time of 1:40:09, followed by Innocent Nyawose in 1:49:59, in his first ever trail run. Third place went to Blair Thompson in 1:51:15. In the ladies, Kim Wesbrook took the win in 2:07:22 over Tracy Zunckel in 2:10:39. Jessica Kew completed the podium in 2:12:14.

This was the first event of three in the KZNTR Summer Series, the next taking place on top of Table Mountain in Pietermaritzburg on 19 November.
