• Tell us about your business.

We are a mechanical engineering workshop. We specialise in the repairing, customising, manufacturing and balancing of propshafts.

• How did you come to own your own business?

Working alongside my husband Cyril, we started our company as equal partners.

• What was your dream job as a child?

Being my own boss.

• What kind of obstacles or barriers do you face as a woman in the business world and how do you overcome them?

Being a woman in a male dominated industry you have to be tough in terms of handling customers and the challenges of everyday business as well as finding the right balance between home and work.

•Who is the most inspirational woman in your life, and why?

Michelle Obama, who said, “success isn’t about how much money you have, it’s about the difference you make in peoples lives”.

•What is the best decision you have ever made?

I moved from Durban to Pietermaritzburg to start our new venture and going into business on our own would be our proudest achievement.

•What do you do when you’re not running your company?

Household chores and spending time with my family.

•What is your favourite dish to prepare for you or your family?

Schwarmas and fish breyani.

•What is your perfect example of ‘me time’?

Yoga and reading.

•What is your message to the female youth of today?

Be yourself you put something wonder- ful into the world that was not there before. Stay focused and reach for your goal. There’s a great future ahead and with your feet firmly on the ground, you can reach for the stars.
