Shooting the breeze

MOST of my friends and colleagues know that I am prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that our annual Ward 34 Community Sport Days goes ahead on October 29.

Over the years I have always believed that a playing community stands a good chance of staying out trouble. When you stage a sports day and get the community involved, especially the children, the chances are they will not have time to get involved in any social ills.

For all children, poor or rich, irrespective of colour, race or creed, sport makes everybody happy, healthy, and more importantly, away from a jail cell.

As organisers and especially for me as a founder, I am still struggling to put everything together and trying to get partners, funders and sponsors for the day.

However, despite the problems we are facing, the show will go on.

I hope that our partners and sponsors Poobie Naidoo’s Sport Warehouse, Karanichhas, Department of Sports and Recreation and Mpi Mchunu (Panorama businessman), who came on board last year will come on board again.

I ask any good Samaritan to contact me and get on board because we still need lots of help to make the day a success, especially goalposts, soccer kits and soccer balls.

I can be contacted on 083 521 9553 or and at 8 Redwood Crescent, Panorama Gardens, Panorama.
