LAST Sunday I was the happiest person on Earth because I finally rounded off my community sports day in Panorama, giving me peace of mind.

The number of the teams that took part in the senior, junior, ladies section and fun walk were enormous.

The winners of the senior group was Edendale’s XoliSizwe United after beating Juventus 1-0 in the final.

The goalkeeper of the tournament was also from XoliSizwe, Sizwe Mncwabe. The player of the tournament was Siyabonga “Messie” Dladla of Juventus.

The overall winners of the juniors U15 section was Maqonqo United.

The outstanding junior player was Mxolisi Mkhize from Maqonqo.

One of the most well disciplined outfits was All Africa United, who was made by players from Malawi, Zimbabwe, DRC and Nigeria.

These African brothers were given a platform to speak about their ongoing campaign against xenophobia.

I thank all stakeholders, partners and sponsors who joined hands and supported from day one to make this event a success.

Just like last year, Babloo from Kara Nichha’s, the main sponsor, made everything possible.

Other sponsors include Poobie Naidoo of Poobie Naidoo’s Sports, Ward 34 Councillour Mike Amod and Panorama Primary School.

To all of you and from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much and God bless you.

I am now focusing on my next community project, the Ward 34 Community Awards scheduled for March 2017.

The official launch will be announced soon, the aim of which is to honour those who contributed to uplifting Ward 34.

Please bear in mind, I don’t want to make this event a one-man band and I am open to any suggestions and ask interested parties to come on board for this event.
