Shooting the Breeze

2017-08-02 06:01

OUR Ward 34 Community Awards will go ahead as planned, however, the date for the event has changed to August 25 starting at 5.30pm, apologies for this.

Last month we lost our “queen of the house”, a friend, grandmother, my hero, my true inspiration and our mother - Wendy Annacletta Barnes.

I thought I would be able to
stay strong, but I cracked after the storm and have taken long to
recover.

The members of the local organising committee (LOC) are all positive, committed and passionate about the event.

I am happy and thank local organised committee members for pulling together and caring about Ward 34 residents.

Let me also make it once again clear - the awards is not a one
man band, or my personal
project, the event belongs to all Ward 34 community members and I believe they will unite our community.

As a proud and active Ward 34 resident and parent, I understand where we all come from and know there are many heroes and heroines who need to be honoured.

So far the names of the potential recipients sent in are interesting, exciting and eye-opening, and the list is getting longer.

Let me once again appeal to our community to submit the names of the people who they think deserve to be honoured.

Finally, although LOC members are doing well asking for donations of medals, trophies, certificates
and figurines, we still need sponsors and partners to come on board
and help to make the awards event successful.

Partners or sponsors can display their banners on stage at the function or become official title sponsors of the event.

Interested parties can contact me on WhatsApp on 083 521 9553, e-mail jerryb.barnes228@gmail.com or call at 8 Redwood Crescent,
Panorama Gardens.
