Sobantu youth celebrate Freedom Day

2016-05-11 06:00

SOBANTU youth celebrated Freedom Day by taking part in a marathon and aerobics at Ni Stadium, the aim of which was also to promote health awareness in Sobantu.

Event organiser, Nelisiswe Madlala, said: “By holding this event we are encouraging the community to live a healthy life, to exercise daily. We are also trying to make a difference in the community by building something that our youth can be known for other than drinking and misbehaving.”

The Sobantu club invited elderly community people to come and watch the activities, and included the elderly from Ladysmith and Howick.

“Our wish is to hold events like this every year, but we need sponsors to help us to make their wish come true. We are grateful to Thabani Zulu, the director general at the Department of Energy, for giving us a hand. We also thank Red Bull and Umgeni Water for their contribution towards this event,” said Madlala.
