ST Anne’s College and Liquid Fusion in collaboration with Matchbox Theatre Collective present the award winning Burn production on 2 February at 7.30pm at St Anne’s College theatre.

Choreographed and directed by Bailey Snyman and featuring Daniel Geddes and Mark Tatham, Burn explores the relationship between Earth and man, and how the two hold each other ransom.

This epic tale is about man’s discovery of the world he inhabits and the consequences of his unprecedented failure to preserve this relationship. Two men navigate the creation myth, the art of war and the desolation of post-apocalyptic destruction.

Inspired in part by Fire on the Mountain by Arthur Golding, fire represents a tool that separates humankind from the animals, and represents both savagery and hope. Burn walks the tenuous line between the past, present and future of our collective history with fire. It results in an explosive conclusion that comments on the visible effects of our inability to preserve our precious resources.

The production won the Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in 2016. Tickets are R70 or R50 concessions. To book, phone 033 343 6100 or email twoodgate@stan
