RAISMED Swerve suffered a scare last Thursday when they came up against Hotshots in the last game of the first round of the KZN Midlands pool league because their opponents looked a better side with Capo being back in the squad.

Early on Raisemed Swerve was 7-3 down in the first two sessions and it appeared as though they were coasting to their first loss of the season.

But just when the team thought it couldn’t get any worse, they went 11-6 down with Hotshots needing just two more games to secure a win.

Swerve were missing one of their main players, Merlin Naidoo, and they needed something special to turn this game around.

The game took a dramatic turn when Swerve captain, Elvin Naidoo, made a superb break and finished against his opponent, and from that point on it was one way traffic for Raisemed Swerve, who “asked all the questions” and Hotshots had no answers.

When the score was 12-12, it was the decider between Eugene Naidoo from Hotshots against champion, Yulan Govender.

Govender, doing what he was born to do, finished the game in style and kept Raisemed Swerve where they belong, in the number one position.

Round two is to start today, with plenty more excitement and surprises waiting in store.
