AS part of its community outreach programme Varsity College Pietermaritzburg recently hosted an Easter party and Easter egg hunt for 30 children from three local children’s homes.

The exciting event ensured that every child was aware and received some of the joy this Easter.

“It was wonderful to see our students interact with the young children who so obviously enjoyed their time on our campus.

“Thank you to Sonya Nursoo, the VC Cares team and the IIE B.Ed. students for hosting the young children so splendidly,” said Kevin McShane, Varsity College Pietermaritzburg principal.

The event included an Easter egg hunt, face painting, cup-cake decorating and an Easter story read by a Varsity College student.

Lunch was also provided to ensure that the happy children were fuelled with both food and Easter eggs after their busy morning.

Varsity College Pietermaritzburg is well established in the social responsibility arena. The passion to give back to the community stems from the culture that Varsity College encourages in all its staff and students. This culture was echoed by the number of students who volunteered at the event.
