Ward 34 Community Awards soon

2017-05-24 06:01

I AM very excited about the Ward 34 Community Awards that will take place on July 28 at the Eastwood Civic Centre.

The event is aimed at recognising Ward 34 residents who contributed towards sport and who put the ward “on the map”.

What makes me look forward to this event is that the response and support in the build-up to the event has been encouraging and positive.

I am also very excited that majority of Ward 34 residents - Eastwood, Cinderella Park, Panorama, Madiba, Jesmonndeen and Malivana - are not just happy, but are throwing in a lot of constructive ideas to make it a success.

As I said from day one, this is not a one-man event, it is open to everybody who is willing to contribute in uplifting or developing our community in order to improve our lives. I believe that unity and positive attitudes will take Ward 34 to greater heights.

I thank community members who agreed to be part of the local organising committee that will sort out the nominees.

My gratitude also goes to the business people who showed an interest in supporting our event to make it a success.

They play an important role and are the backbone of our event and we will display their corporate colours at the function.

To those who still want to come on board or offer support, you are welcome. If there are some who want to join Ward 34 Community Awards local organising committee, you are also welcome.
