We are expected to accept the claims of Abrahamic belief systems

THE question posed by Nicolai in Fever of 3 August refers.

We are expected to accept the claims of “Abrahamic” belief systems, also referred to as Judeo-Christian-based religions in philosophy, as valid.

Philosophers Voltaire and Hume question whether we are to consider writings presented to us by ignorant peoples, written in an age in which they were barbarous, long after the facts, which they relate to, corroborated by no other concurring testimony in this day, and in which provable scientific evidence is at variance with such claims.

Philosophers have been concerned with determining whether such belief systems are in accordance with natural laws by examining evidence “that can be adduced of these beliefs”. Many claim to be historical facts based in documents of great antiquity.

Basic to these assertions is the claim that the knowledge offered are the results of man’s relationship to a male divine being. Information gained from the so-called “revelations” from allegedly “divinely inspired authorities” from documents such as the Bible and Koran have been advanced.

Popular beliefs of the “faithful masses” were in Greek times and even now, are highly questionable and incompatible with scientific knowledge about our world and the cosmos.

?The three linked faiths cannot conclusively prove that a creator actually exists, so all the claims in “revealed” scriptures are in reality mere “creations of human minds through the ages”.
