KZN Philharmonic

THE KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’s associate guest conductor, Daniel Boico ,joins the orchestra on March 2. The concert features Mariam Batsashvili on piano as the soloist. Maritzburg Philatelic Society Exhibit

This award-winning display, which comprises stamps, postcards, commemorative envelopes and other memorabilia, celebrates the changing philately of Pietermaritzburg. This city has been the capital of the Republic of Natalia (1836 - 1844), the Colony of Natal (1844 - 1910), the Province of Natal (1910 - 1994), and is now that of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. It spans the period from the arrival of the Voortrekkers to the present, and includes street and place names, early transport, and educational institutions. Also featured are regular events such as the Comrades Marathon, Duzi Canoe Race, Royal Agricultural Show, and aspects such as Victorian architecture, places of worship, Maritzburg United Football Club, the Natal Carbineers and provincial Nature Conservation, the Zulu War of 1879, and the two World Wars. Dr Mike O’Connor, a well-known genealogist with expert knowledge about our City, will present a series of talks. The exhibition takes place until Saturday 25 February. Philatelic Exhibition

Saturday, 25 February at 11am, Dr Mike O’Connor will talk in the lecture theatre about Pietermaritzburg’s historic buildings, with reference to the Philatelic Exhibition that will be on show in the Lorna Ferguson Room from 14 to 25 May 2017.

Linpark High School Reunion

This Reunion is open to all who attended Linpark High Schools in the 80s and 90s. It also marks the 20 year reunion of the class of 1997 and the 30 year Reunion of the class of 1987. Partners are welcome. The event will take place on 25 February at The Club House in Ashburton from 4pm. Entry is R60. Drink and Food available all night long. Music supplied to take you on Journey of the 80s 90s. Theme: 80s/90s dress up or come as you are.
