Africa’s largest mixed agricultural show - The Royal Show - takes place from May 26 to June 4 at the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg. The event also boasts an extensive entertainment programme and a broad mix of public-interest exhibits. For more information and to purchase tickets visit http://www.royalshow.co.za. Race on over to the Golden Horse Casino on Saturday, May 27 where the country’s oldest and richest horse racing sprint takes place. The annual Tsogo Sun Sprint promises to be a crowd pleaser. Picnic sites on the infield are available for sale to the public and entry to the race day is free. Event starts at 10am.

THE Schreiner Gallery in the Tatham Art is looking for artists and/or art groups to make portfolio submissions for exhibitions to take place in 2018. Interested parties can contact Pinky Nkabinde at 033 392 2811 or Reena Bhoodram at 033 392 2828. The deadline for submissions is 12pm on Wednesday, May 3. Hosted by the Pietermaritzburg Vintage Sports Car Club, the show attracts over 1 200 exhibitors. Fans can look forward to seeing an array of modern and vintage cars, motorcycles and novelty vehicles, like tractors and steam engines). There will be 60 food and beverage stalls available.
