THE 5K Chocolate Run is bringing its chocolaty goodness back to the Friendly City in a lively carnival atmosphere to create awareness to end abuse against women.

The 5k run or walk will be held on November 26 at Kings Beach.

The pre-race party starts at 8am and the run begins at 9am. The event is open to everyone.

The objective of the chocolate run is to attract the community to be active participants in the fight to eradicate violence against women and at the same time bring friends and family together in a unique fun environment to experience the spirit of fun, happiness and love.

This year the organisers partnered with Mondelez International and Cape Town Chocolatier, Chocolates by Tomes, to introduce a pre-race party, rewarding runners and walkers alike with delicious chocolate.

This is a family event with no winners or official times.

Participants will enjoy attractions such as vibrant Drum Majorettes, Brigade Bands, March and Drills and a Display of SANDF vehicles.

The organisers are also working hard to promote growth and create employment opportunities.

To this end there will be an SANDF recruitment office at the chocolate run.

To participate, Pink Tickets cost R200 (immediately receive a t-shirt and Gold Medal), Blue tickets cost R100 (receive chocolates at event).

Tickets are available from Brian Bands and The Footballer in Newton Park and from Brocketts Sports in Uitenhage.
