About IT Triathlon entries open

2015-11-04 06:00

THE Eastern Province Triathlon Association (EPTA) sanctioned About IT Triathlon Summer Series takes place in December with early bird entries now open.

This year sees this popular sprint distance triathlon Series being extended to four race days with the first sprint distance event taking place on Sunday, December 13, at Pollok Beach and open to all newcomers to triathlon.

Race 2 will take place on Wednesday 16th with round 3 on Sunday 20th. The Series will conclude with round 4 at Port St Francis on Saturday, December 26.

Each race day will offer a completely different sprint distance triathlon format but all will consist of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run with all online entrants receiving a complimentary silicone swim cap.

Teams of 3 are more than welcome with each team member partaking in one of the 3 legs of the triathlon in relay format.

A kids triathlon for children between the ages of 8 and 15 years will also take part over the weekend of the 3 Port Elizabeth legs of the Series.

The About IT Triathlon Series is well supported and annually attracts some of South Africa’s leading triathletes from around the country.

This year will see the Series being hydrated by Nutritech and fuelled by Caltex whilst all logistical support for the Series is provided by Dynamic Express Services, the transport and logistics partner of Zsports Events NPC.

Online entries can be made on www.TriSummerSeries.co.za.

aQuellé ocean racing series this Sunday

After having seen round 2 being blown out almost two weeks ago, there will be much interest for the third round of the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series which will be taking place on Sunday morning at Hobie Beach.

South Africa’s largest family beach event features no fewer than 6 events on the morning starting with the 3km Ocean Swim and followed by the 5km Beach Walk, 2km Ocean Swim, 5km Beach Run, 1km Ocean Swim and the Kids 12 years and under 1km beach run with participants as young at 2 years old taking part.

Certainly it will be a great family morning of fun and fitness at the beachfront with fantastic lucky draw prizes up for grabs including R1 000 cash whilst all finishers in the kids race get a finishers medal and are included in their own special lucky draw prize giving.

Series membership at just R50 is compulsory and can be made online (www.oceanracingseries.com) or on Sunday morning at the Beach from 7.30am. Entry into the swim events is just R60, R40 for the beach events and R30 for the kids.

The Series consists of 10 race days between October and April each year and takes place mostly on alternate Sunday mornings.
