Clivia show to be held this Saturday

2015-07-15 06:00

THE Eastern Province Clivia Club will hold an interspecific mini show at the Sherwood Garden Centre from 1pm to 2pm on July 18. Entrance is free and open to the public.

This year there will be two categories: best interspecific in flower and pendulous species in flower. Since many Clivia miniata plants flower out of season, members are also invited to bring these flowering plants, as well to showcase those that will not be at the main show in September.

Judging will be done by the visitors, who will select the “best on show” as well as “runner up” plant from those on display.

The show will be followed by an open meeting starting at 2pm and a talk and presentation will be done by Dawid Botha, dealing with different colour variations and the new show entry forms.

A sausage braai will follow the talk and members can mingle and have the usual coffee and tea with some cake as well. Donations towards the eats will be welcome.

There will plants for sale, as well as literature such as “Cultivate Clivia’ and other booklets. As usual, a raffle will be done for a yellow clivia plant. For more info, call Dawid on 082 497 8304, Marius on 061 405 4501 or Gideon on 079 490 0550
