PRE-TEEN Miss PE, Nicole Riekert (11), is doing her part for charity, despite her young age.

This grade 6 learner at Newton Park Primary school was crowned Pre-Teen Miss PE on May 2, and has been taking part in this competition since the age of 4.

Talita Riekert, Nicole’s mother, said Nicole refused to give up, and finally won the title this year.

“She uses her title as a platform to show all kids that life is about giving, not receiving, and that kids can make a difference no matter what their age,” said Talita.

Once a month Nicole lends a helping hand to the Imfundo Educare Project, which is situated in Malabar Extension 6 and was established by Juanita and Alwyn Smith from Rolemodels.

On Mandela Day Nicole took all her savings to buy food and something sweet for the children of that area. She plans on reaching out to homes for the elderly in the near future.
