PORT ELIZABETH. – Ballet­liefhebbers hier kan hul vere regskud vir grepe uit Swanemeer, Die Neutekraker en meer wanneer die Friendly City-jeugballetgeselskap sy jaarlikse skouspel in die Savoy-teater aanbied.

Ballet Bouquet, wat op 11 en 12 Julie hier op die planke sal wees, is uit verhoog-hoogte­punte saamgestel deur Robin van Wyk van die Kaapstadse Stadsballet (KSB). Die meer as 65 plaaslike dansers is in Maart vanjaar deur Van Wyk gekies en sal die verhoog met dansers van die KSB deel.

Angela Hansford, ’n Baaise boorling wat nou ’n senior ­solodanser vir die KSB is, ­Revil Yon, ook voorheen van Port Elizabeth, en die prima ballerina Laura Bösenberg is van die Kaapstadse dansers wat hier te sien sal wees.

Senior dansers van die Friendly City-jeugballet­geselskap gaan ook die ­geleentheid kry om tonele uit Swanemeer te dans. Siobhan Day, Channae Erens, Vicki Pretorius en ­Tarryn Wright sal aan hierdie gewilde Tsjai­kowski-ballet se swaankwartet ­gestalte gee.

Monica Hewitson van Friendly City-geselskap het ­gesê die Baai het lanklaas ’n ballet-uitvoering met soveel gasdansers van die Kaapse ­balletgeselskap op die planke gebring.

“Die dansers kom hierheen net na afloop van die Nasionale Kunstefees op Grahamstad en deur goeie ondersteuning van plaaslike gehore, hoop ons dat dit nie die laaste keer sal wees nie.”
