Bonsai show to take place this weekend

2016-11-16 06:00

THE annual Eastern Province Bonsai Show will be taking place from November 19 to 20.

“The art of Bonsai seems to be growing with younger people who are now taking up the hobby,” said Jenny Shute, Public Relations Officer of the EP Bonsai Society.

“Most serious Bonsai lovers want a ‘traditional’ juniper or conifer in their collection, but with the vast array of trees available to us in South Africa, we are spoilt with acacia, coral, wild olive, spek and even the mighty baobab tree have become our favourite. So no matter what your choice is, there is a Bonsai that will suit you.”

The event takes place at the Sherwood Garden Centre, Walker Drive, from 9am-5pm on Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday.

Entry is R20 for adults, R10 for learners and free for children under 12.
