) religious Hi’s Place Developing Centre: Have a prayer service for the sick on every first and third Sunday evening of the month at 6pm, as well as at every Sunday morning service at 9am and Youth Service at 2.30pm.

)clubs Birdlife EC: Will be having a Saturday morning workshop in using BirdLasser on 21 January at St John’s Anglican Church hall in Walmer from 9am to 7.15pm. Henk Nel, the developer of the BirdLasser app, and Ernst Retief from BirdLife SA will present a very practical workshop to help people to use the app BirdLasser.

  • They will also have a Sunday morning outing to Sundays River Mouth in Pearson Park. Meet at Schultz’s in West Street, Newton Park. An entrance fee is payable. Target birds: African Finfoot (recorded once only), 5 species of kingfisher, Terek Sandpiper, Damara and Little Tern and Bar-tailed Godwit. Contact Andy Nixon on 079 587 5110.

Algoa Toastmasters (Newton Park): Will be learning through moments of enjoyment and invite everyone to join them on 24 January at the Caritas Centre in West Street from 5.30pm to 8pm. Contact Zanele Hartmann on 084 423 2291.

Dias Quilters’ Guild: Will have their monthly meeting on 28 January at VP Primary School in 1st Ave Walmer at 2pm. This will be a special year for the guild as the National Quilt Festival will be held in Port Elizabeth in July. Contact Carole Ann on 076 026 7046.

Voetsac Hiking Club: Runs both weekend hikes and day walks on a regular basis. The day walks are held on Saturdays. They also have longer hikes several times a year. )general Redhouse Yacht Club: Will have the the Gypsy Africa’s and annual Interclub Regatta on 21 and 22 January at Redhouse from 11.30am. All classes of dinghy yachts are welcome. Contact Esme on 041 463 1605.
