Doctors Without Borders visit Bay to raise funds, awareness

2017-03-22 06:02

INTERNATIONAL medical humanitarian organisation, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, will visit four different cities in the Garden Route from March 14 to June 3 to raise funds for its emergency medical work in more than 65 countries.

The face-to-face fundraising team made their first stop in Port Elizabeth on March 14 and will be here until March 25.

Other cities to be visited during the course of the campaign include Mossel Bay, Knysna and George. They will be returning to Port Elizabeth at later dates.

“We are incredibly excited about this tour and we look forward to interacting with people from Port Elizabeth who have given us overwhelming support in the past,” said Kelly Barlow, the MSF travel teams’ co-ordinator.

“The funds we raise from such initiatives enable us to provide the much needed medical care both here in South Africa and internationally. We are encouraging the community to stand up with us and support this tour, to visit our teams at the stand, find out more about us, and see how to become involved.”

MSF relies on funds from private donors who contribute regular donations from as little as R15 on a monthly basis.

MSF will be in Port Elizabeth on the following dates from 9am to 5pm:

. March 21 to 25 at Greenacres Shopping Mall

. April 25 to 29 at The Bridge

. May 2 to 6 at Greenacres Shopping Mall

. May 9 to 13 at Baywest Mall.
