CARS and motorcyles of all shapes, sizes and ages will once again be proudly displayed at the Speedyquip Cars & Coffee Show which takes place today at 3 Prince Alfred Road in North End.

The show, which is very popular among car enthusiasts, showcases from vintage and classic to modern cars.

Among these will be a 1965 Valiant Barracuda which has been lovingly restored by Jerome Erskine, manager at Speedyquip.

The Barracuda was originally built by the late Andre Kriek. When Jerome, a member of the East Cape Street Rod and Custom Car Club, became its owner, he changed it to its distinctive yellow colour.

The Barracuda has a lot of power with a 5.7 litre V8 Chevrolet engine with a 4-barrel Holley carburettor and electronic ignition, which replaced the original 6-cylinder engine. It’s suspension has been replaced with that of a Jaguar, as well as the front and back disc brakes.

There is no charge for exhibitors or spectators and there is free coffee and biscuits available. Animal Welfare Society have a stall at the event to raise funds.

The show will start at 8am until 12-noon. For more information, phone 041 484 1506.
