Friendly City Marathon’s Run 4 Retina this Saturday

THE Achilles Club helped to raise more then R10 000 during the Run 4 Retina Charity Challenge as part of the Friendly City Marathon’s annual charity drive at Builders Warehouse on Sunday, January 24.

Ten enthusiastic teams had to run their best distance in 60 minutes on treadmills.

Achilles Club, who were also the hosts of the event on Sunday, were the champions with a distance of 16.3km covered in 60 minutes.

Die Burger Rafi’s Builders Warehouse Friendly City Marathon’s Run 4 Retina this Saturday, January 30 starts from the Fountain Vineyard Church field behind Builders Warehouse. The marathon includes a 42.2km marathon, a 10km race and a 5km fun walk/run.

Late entries and pre-race registration will take place at Rafi’s Appliances and Mattresses in Newton Park on Friday evening, January 29, from 5pm to 7pm and the first 600 entrants at registration will receive free t-shirts.

Runners will line up for the marathon at 5am, the 10km at 6am and the 5km event at 7.30am. The cost is R100 for the marathon, R50 for the 10km and R30 for 5km fun walk/run. The temporary licence for the marathon and 10km is R30.

Marathon runners aged 65 years and over will only pay 50% of the race fee, R50.

Entry forms are available from Rafi Appliances & Mattresses, Builders Warehouse and Brian Bands.
