A MUSIC lecturer at the University of Fort Hare, Devandré Boonzaaier, has been presented with the opportunity to present a paper at the Christian Congregational Music Conference that will take place at the University of Oxford in England.

The paper is based on Boonzaaier’s doctoral work on the Moravian Church Music Heritage in South Africa.

Boonzaaier, from Port Elizabeth, has also been invited – as an international scholarship recipient – to the 25th Moravian Music Festival to be held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the United States, from July 23 to 29.

The world premiere of a composition by South African Moravian composer, EJ Williams, which Boonzaaier edited and archived as part of his doctoral study, will form part of the festival.

Boonzaaier is the organist of Arcadia Moravian Church in Port Elizabeth and a doctoral student at Nelson Mandela University.

The Christian Congregational Music Conference will take place in England from July 18 to 21.
