DRAMA Seasons at The PE Opera House will present the production of Veil from tonight, May 24, until Friday, May 26, in The Barn Theatre.

Drama Seasons at The PE Opera House stages commissioned works every month for a short run. The programme is designed to breathe life into ready productions that are produced largely by locally based experts.

Veil is set in New Brighton and tells the bitter sweet love story of Somalian shop owner Ali and Nosipho.

Ali is a refugee who fled his war-torn country and is now striving to start a new life in South Africa, while Nosipho is a young Xhosa girl who assists him in his spaza shop and teaches him the ways of his new country.

They inevitably fall in love, but end up having to deal with the disapproval of society, xenophobia, rejection and hate. Tension mounts until the story comes to a shocking conclusion.

Veil was written and directed by Zwai Mgijima and will be starring Anele Penny, Zinathi Ngcwangu, Ludwe Mgolombane and Xolani Mali.

The productions on May 24 and 25 will take place at 7pm and on May 26 at 4pm and 7pm.

Admission is R50 per adult and R20 for pensioners and students.
