NMMU presents annual Isisusa Concert tonight

2015-11-25 06:23

THE NMMU Department of Arts and Culture, in collaboration with the PE Opera House, will end their 2015 event calendar by hosting the annual Isisusa Concert at the newly refurbished Port Elizabeth Opera House.

Department Head, Michael Barry, said that over a number of years, this event has grown, with patrons constantly looking forward to the next concert. The theme this year is “Celebrating Women” and a star-studded array awaits with the following artists: Asanda Mqiki, who was nominated and won an ovation award for her performance at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival earlier this year; spoken word artist Lelethu Mahambehlala (aka) from Poetic Soul; and Maisha will join her for some musical renditions which will not disappoint.

The concert will feature some fresh talent from the Bay too, namely Asimthandile Khewana, Melikhaya Xotyeni, Lord Harmony, Lisa Love and others.

These artists will be accompanied by Ulagh Williams and the Isisusa Big Band, under the baton of Gareth Williams.

This band comprises past and present NMMU music students too. The concert will commence at 6:30pm on November 25.

Tickets cost R30 for students/pensioners and R50 for adults and can be purchased from the Arts and Culture offices at the NMMU on 041 504 2508, or email Brandon.Matiwane@nmmu.ac.za.
