THE unique and exciting Town Lodge Business Night Relay returns to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at the end of the month for a series of four race nights held on the last Tuesday of May, June, July and August.

This fun corporate team building event is unique in South Africa in that it comprises of a running and walking relay race through one of the iconic 2010 Football World Cup legacy multipurpose stadiums.

The event is open to teams comprising of five runners or three walkers where each team member must run or walk a secure 3.5km distance within the stadium precinct. The route takes in three levels of the city’s majestic stadium, managed by the Mandela Bay Development Agency, and sees the start/finish transition area outside the VIP lounge of the stadium on Level 1.

“We really enjoy this growing winter event as it gives local companies the opportunity to come together and network while affording their staff the opportunity to get to know each other better in a fun and relaxing environment,” said Series Director Mike Zoetmulder of Zsports Events NPC.

“Here’s a shout out to all companies and schools to motivate colleagues and friends to have fun challenging other corporate or school competitors on the athletic arena in a fun evening which offers corporate hospitality opportunities and an abundance of networking and team building opportunities for all.”

Online registration is possible on www.nightrelay.co.za with just the team captain or representative’s details and the team’s name needed.

On the last Tuesday of each month, registration for preregistered teams opens at 4pm at the stadium with the run relay starting at 6pm and the walkers two minutes later.

Gareth Burley from Kingfisher FM will be the MC on the evening which ends with a prize-giving at 8:15pm.

There are floating trophies, medals and City Lodge Hotels group breakfast vouchers for category winners in the walk team, men’s run team, ladies’ run team and mixed run team categories.

Traditionally a wide selection of fantastic lucky draw prizes are up for grabs each race night which includes a R500 Caltex fuel voucher, R1 000 cash and an accommodation voucher from the City Lodge Hotels Group.
