THE Port Elizabeth Music Society presents Romanian pianist, Daniel Ciobanu, who will perform at the NMMU South Campus Auditorium on Monday, February 20.

Ciobanu (25) recently graduated with his Master’s degree after completing a first-class honours Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatiore of Scotland under the tutelage of Aaron Shorr, Petra Geniusas and Steven Osborne.

During his time at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he won all the major internal piano competitions held among the students at the conservatoire and became the first student to receive such an honour.

Last year, Ciobanu won first prize at the UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, as well as the special prize for best Classical Sonata.

Ciobanu’s most recent engagements include an invitation to perform alongside Lang Lang in the Royal Festival Hall in London.

His performance at the NMMU South Campus Auditorium will take place at 7.30pm.

Tickets are R85 per adult, R70 for pensioners, R35 for students and R30 for children and will be available at the door.
