Runners brave rainy weather in Gelvandale race

ALL-WEATHER runners took to the streets of Gelvandale on Saturday, September 16, in wet and windy conditions.

A field of 260 runners finished the 15km and approximately 50 runners completed the 5km, which started and finished at the Gelvandale Stadium.

Adriaan Gerwel, of Ikhamva running club, finished first in 47.11, closely followed by Andile Motwana of Tinarha, in 47.12, Amos Nyongo, Ikhamva, finished third, with 48.21.

The first woman home was Ndileka Mvakwendlu of Tinarha, in 1.02.30, followed by Liza-Marie Kingston of Nedbank in 1.03.27, and Davera Magson, also of Nedbank, finished third in 1.07.13.

For the 5km, Keanu Domingo was first to cross the finish line and Ashnique Abrahams was the first woman to finish. – REPORTER
