Search is on for new The Ultimate Gospel Artist

2015-12-09 06:00

PEFM 87.6 launched a local talent search project in September 2013 throughout the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay.

After several elimination rounds The Ultimate Gospel Artist (TUGA) 2014, Nicholas Geswindt, was crowned the winner, and walked away with a recording contract worth R280 000 from a top music house in Johannesburg, Jays Music.

The owner and producer, Jabu Nkibinda, has extended his sponsonsorship for the competition to run again this year.

“PEFM 87.6 has started this initiative as an upliftment project to develop young talent in the community and also use this as a musical platform to expose the Eastern Cape talent to the rest of the country,” said Pastor Ronnie Johnson, station manager.

“The winner of this competition will fly to Johannesburg early next year to record an album in the state of the art studios of Jays Music and will be interviewed by at least five radio stations in Gauteng.”

This year the festival will be held at the Feesterrein (Old Concentration Camp) on Saturday, December 5, 2015. The new TUGA winner will be crowned from the eleven finalists who made it through the semifinals, held last month at the Jarman Hall in Schauderville. This year the competition also catered for the 40+ age group.

The Gospel Festival starts at 10am at the Feesterrein with lots of activities to look forward to. Entry fee per adult is R40 and R20 per child between the ages of 7 and 16 years.
