Gerda Stroud van Lorraine Manor het haar sitrusresep, Hoender in lemoensous - ’n ou familiegunsteling - met ons gedeel.

Bestanddele:

1 Middelmatige groot hoender

2 eetlepels sout (of na smaak)

¼ teelepel peper

4 eetlepels meelblom

1/8 teelepel fyn naeltjies

¼ teelepel gerasperde neut

¼ teelepel fyn gemmer

2 koppies lemoensap

¼ teelepel rissiesous

½ koppie ontpitte rosyne

1/8 koppie gekapte amandels

Metode:

Sny die hoender in stukke en vryf dit in met sout, peper en 2 eetlepels meelblom.

Verhit botter in ’n swaar oondskottel en braai die vleis tot bruin daarin.

Verwyder die vleis uit die botter en maak ’n sous soos volg:

Roer die orige 2 eetlepels meelblom en speserye by die botter in die oondskottel.

Gooi die lemoensap en die rissiesous by.

Roer totdat die sous dik en glad is.

Pak die hoenderstukke in die sous.

Strooi die rosyne oor, sit die deksel op en bak in die oond tot die vleis sag is.

Strooi die amandels bo-oor.

Opsioneel: Voeg ’n paar lemoenhuisies by die sous – dis heerlik!

Citrus recipe booklet

Food Lover’s Market and Die Burger will team up to launch a recipe book that contains delicious citrus recipes and who knows, maybe your recipe will be there!

This recipe booklet will contain an article about famous writer Sarah Graham, as well as citrus recipes of and articles about other famous chefs such as Francois Ferreira and Annelie Oosthuizen.

How do you enter your recipe?

If you have a delicious citrus recipe that you would like to see in this booklet, send it to us! Send an email with your citrus recipe to resepte@dieburger.com. Remember to write your name and town where you live in the subject line.

Registration for the recipes closes on Monday, June 19 at 12pm.

Die Burger and PE Express will publish weekly recipes from which a shortlist of recipes will be selected. Note that if your recipe is published in the newspaper, it does not necessarily mean that it will be included in the recipe book.
