PUPILS of St George’s Pre-Primary School in Port Elizabeth were dressed to the nines last Friday in Victorian wear as they were taken down memory lane by their teachers.

“The Victorian Tea is an annual event where we’re walking down memory lane with our pupils as we give them the history of our school,” said teacher Sheron van Wyk.

According to van Wyk, the pupils were told the history of their school from when it was a mansion that was then sold to become an institution of learning.

“They dress in the Victorian clothing and walk down Bird Street to 7 Castle Hill before they had Tea at the school,” van Wyk said, adding that the little children became the Very Important People (VIPs) during Tea where their parents cook and serve them scrumptious meals.

The little ones enjoyed the day and felt the idea of being special. Asked how she felt, Hanah Stiglingh (9) said, “Excited and comfortable. I also feel pretty like I am living in those days.”
